Matt Damon reprises his role as Jason Bourne in The Bourne Ultimatum, the third and final installment of the series based on Robert Ludlum’s novel. Jason continues to search for his true identity while his old employer, the National Security Agency, try their best to eliminate him in hopes of keeping their secret project under wraps. Vague memories start to come back to Jason, leading him closer to the answers he seeks.

The Bourne Ultimatum

I thoroughly enjoyed this film from start to finish. The story moves along at a great pace, and there is a ton of incredible action that holds true to the slick style that we’ve come to expect from this series. The high energy of The Bourne Ultimatum kept my eyes glued to the movie screen and on the edge of my seat for the entire movie. Even with all of the action, this is an intelligent film that doesn’t take liberties with cheap tricks or stunts. The story on its own is strong, and the action is just icing on the cake.

Matt Damon continues to impress me with his recent roles (unlike that friend of his), and I look forward to his future films. Joan Allen returns as Pamela Landy, the specialist brought in to locate and eliminate Bourne. There’s a reason this lady has been nominated for three Oscars. I still think she should have won it in 2001 for her awesome performance in The Contender. David Strathairn joins the cast and is a welcome addition as the adversary Noah Vosen.

This film is definitely one of the strongest from the 2007 summer lineup, and is a must-see for any action fan. It wraps up the series nicely and complements the first of the franchise, The Bourne Identity. I definitely feel it is the best of the Bournes, and one of the top spy movies I’ve seen in a very long time. With all of the action, top notch performances, and great style, this film will not disappoint those looking for an intelligent adrenaline rush.

Memorable Scene
Early in the film, a journalist who may have information crucial to Jason’s mission is being targeted by a the NSA in a busy London area for termination. Throughout this scene Jason relays information to the unknowing target as he is being followed, and beats the crap out of those NSA agents who get too close. This pace of this scene is awesome, and if you let yourself get wrapped up in it, will prove to be a great ride.
